Applications are now open for the 2023-2024 Vocal Arts Academy presented by I Cantori Di Carmel. Academy members receive training and mentorship through a 4-day intensive on 19th Century German Repertoire at Hidden Valley Music Seminars in Carmel Valley before becoming featured soloists in our upcoming concert season. This is perfect for you if you are passionate about choral music, vocal performance, and are ready for mentorship and performance opportunities. For this fall's VAA, we are looking for sopranos, mezzo-sopranos and baritones. Our Winter concert repertoire consists of Mendelssohn's Vom Himmel Hoch and Psalm 42, Max Bruch's Gruss and die heilige Nacht, Rheinberger's Der Stern von Bethlehem, and Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel.
As a participant you will:
Study and perform as a soloist in I Cantori's "A Romantic Christmas" under the baton of Daniel Henriks in beautiful, historic venues across California's Central Coast
Focus on German Romantic Repertoire
Receive private coaching with Daniel Henriks
Polish German diction with language coach Alexa Dieterle
Perform in a public masterclass focusing on German Repertoire
Obtain a sound and video recording of the performances for promotional use (non-commercial only)
Receive a $200 stipend along with room and board in Carmel Valley’s serene and inspiring Hidden Valley Music Seminars
Perform with chorus when not a soloist
