Since 1985 The Old World Carolers have been singing in the north bay; we rehearse Thursday evenings in downtown Sebastopol.
We are a nondenominational a cappella choir singing rare and haunting European holiday music from the 6th to 19th centuries. Each year we have a theme, and this year we are choosing songs with trees -- to give an idea, some possibilities from our back repertoire include Green Grow'th the Holly, The Cherry Tree Carol, Ya viene la vieja, Candlemas Eve, and Oken Leaves.
We sing mainly songs in the folk tradition, SATB, rather than long choral pieces. But we occasionally have a few multipage choral arrangements such as De los álamos vengo. We sing for benefits of our choosing early each December, and other parties and events occasionally. You can listen to samples from our CD at:

We sing for benefits of our choosing, sometimes just one concert in early December, raising money for homeless shelters, women's shelters, or an environmental benefit. Quartets sometimes form out of our group to perform at paid gigs if they choose.
We audition new singers in August; all parts are welcome.
