Auditions for The Bracebridge Dinner at Yosemite 2019
On July 14th & 15th, Andrea Fulton Productions will be auditioning for the 2019 Season of “The Bracebridge Dinner at Yosemite,” a lavish Tudor-style Yuletide Dinner held every year since 1927 at the Ahwahnee Hotel (aka the Majestic Yosemite Hotel).
The roles being cast this season are:
• Nathaniel the Woodsman (Baritone) – A man of the woods who shared youthful adventures with Neville, the Squire of Bracebridge Hall, and maintains a warm friendship despite their difference in station; particularly attuned to nature and the people of the Valley. Seeking an experienced, mature actor/singer for this principal role; calls for a rustic English/Scottish accent.
• Augusta Billingsley (Alto/Mezzo) – The Housekeeper of Bracebridge Hall; guiding light of the Squire’s household and the host of his annual Yuletide feast; shares a flirtatious relationship with Chef Pierre; and struggles mightily to rein in the antics of the Jester and the pontificating of the Parson so as not to embarrass the Squire and his guests; seeking an experienced actor/singer for this understudy role. Experience with audience participation a plus.
The event is held over a roughly two-week engagement in Yosemite in December, where the performers are in residency in the Valley. There are six performances of the Dinner show this year, and we also present a solo/choral holiday concert series, in which soloists and small ensembles are featured alongside a core choral program.
Rehearsals are held in the East Bay & San Francisco starting in September and continuing through October and November. We meet on weekends for staging rehearsals and on Monday evenings for choral work. Performances in Yosemite are from Dec 9 to 22. Compensation, as well as room/board for each singer are provided.
Auditioners will prepare dialogue and a song from the show (sides and music will be provided in advance). In addition, we would like to hear a classic comic monologue and song of your choosing. Accompanist provided. Non-AEA. Auditions will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 911 Dowling Blvd., San Leandro from 7:00-10:00 pm.
Yosemite National Park’s Bracebridge Dinner has become a true American tradition since its inception in 1927. Each December, the Dining Room of the Ahwahnee is transformed into the majestic hall of Washington Irving’s legendary “Squire Bracebridge.” Elements of holiday pageantry, theatre – both soulful and comedic – and beautiful music all come together wrapped around a multi-course, five-star meal.
