The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra’s free family concerts are still the best experience around for families with young kids and babes in arms. There is no pressure to sit still, and there’s plenty of engaging visual and aural stimulation for all! This multicultural program weaves classic works by the orchestra together with folk tales and the South American music of Trio Chaskinakuy, which consists of Edmond Badoux, Francy Vidal, and Daniel Zamalloa. Pipes of feather, flutes of bone, a trumpet 10 feet long, and a harp played upside down, plus Peruvian violin, guitar and mandolin, and vocals — all sound a musical journey through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, northern Chile, and Argentina. Bring the kids early on March 12 and 13 for a half-hour, preperformance workshop on “Sound and Colors!” by S.F. Chamber Orchestra’s resident painter, Peggy Gyulai.
