Ever wanted to hear the sounds of Alaskan wildlife presented in the context of live, contemporary music? Of course you have. The ensemble that came up with this idea, Redshift, is not normal, you understand. But that's a good thing. It's made up of experienced new music players who have worked in a huge variety of styles and formats and with a wide array of composers. They're dedicated to exploding the notions that contemporary music is difficult to understand, non-interactive, and only for the initiated. This is only one of the concerts they've put together on the theme of music and nature, but this time they're taking the direct route, trying to create music that is visceral as well as meditative. Sharing the program will be folk/experimental band Jack O' the Clock.
