Pamela Z’s Room Series continues this weekend with “Poetry and Motion” at the Royce Gallery. Z, who is apparently an inexhaustible fount of great ideas, brings together three musicians whose work involves language and poetry with three dancers in the Japanese Butoh tradition.
You mightn’t think that dancers would have any space to work in a 16-square-foot area, but that’s why Pamela Z is featuring the hypnotically slow, controlled Butoh dance style.
Some Butoh artists can be outrageous, but all of them are comfortable with experiment and novel collaborations – another reason why these dancers perfectly fit the Room.
