Carla MooreWhile Voices of Music brought in oboist Gonzalo Ruiz for their recent “Great Artists Series,” their upcoming concerts of the Bach Violin Sonatas features violinist Carla Moore — a pretty great artist in her own right. But unlike most performances and recordings you may have heard of the Bach sonatas, Voices of Music is performing them as chamber music, giving due weight to the other part with a full continuo group (VoM regular William Skeen and co-directors Hanneke van Proosdij and David Tayler). There will still be ample room for the violin pyrotechnics, but this approach may highlight Bach's total compositional achievement better than a soloist-focused one.
