Les grâces is a small chamber group you may not have heard of, but they have a growing reputation. Consisting of world-class harpsichordist (and SFCV writer) Jonathan Rhodes Lee, Rebekah Ahrendt on the all-important viola da gamba, Annette Bauer on recorders, and vocalist Jennifer Paulino, the group represents the next generation of Berkeley's outstanding early music community. They've just won a grant from the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music, which they will use to record some of the repertory they presented this year in the San Francisco Early Music Society concert series.
But Bay Area denizens don't have to wait until their recording comes out. They have several upcoming concerts scheduled and the next one takes place this weekend for the Music on the Hill series at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church in San Francisco. It's an all-German Baroque program including music by Bach, G.F. Telemann, and some less recognizable but still studly composers like Kuhnau and Buxtehude.
