If there's one thing we've learned, even before the Bach and Friends documentary, it's that musicians are always interested in another transcription of Bach's music for their instruments. So it's not surprising that renowned lutenist Hopkinson Smith has transcribed Bach's Suites for Solo Cello for the theorbo (a bass lute).

It's just lucky for Bach lovers that he'll be playing the first three of them at concerts for the San Francisco Early Music Society this weekend. His recording of them has already been acclaimed (by Gramophone among others), but live is always better. Don't miss the opportunity.
