The Eos Ensemble shows up at the Music at Meyer series at Temple Emmanu-El, and they're bringing horn player Kevin Rivard (like Eos' director, Craig Reiss, a member of the San Francisco Opera and Ballet orchestras). On the program, Brahms' Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano, Op. 40, still one of my favorite chamber works by that composer. György Ligeti's trio for the same group, from 1982, is a homage to the Brahms work, so I'm in good company. And finally, Bartók's popular Romanian Dances rounds out an exciting program likely to have you calling for a shot of pálinka (Hungarian brandy).
