In these uncertain times, when a symphony orchestra reaches its 10th anniversary healthy and successful, everyone should celebrate. Symphony Silicon Valley has reached that milestone, and they’re celebrating with two of the most popular works in the repertory: Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra and Johannes Brahms’ sunny Second Symphony. Gregory Vajda conducts.

The Symphony’s president, Andrew Bales, has figured out what works for his audience and has managed to put the orchestra on the map without superstar soloists and conductors – though the well-regarded, often recorded William Boughton shares the stage with the orchestra for their June set – or a music director. If you’re in the South Bay and you haven’t checked them out already, here are two good opportunities to do so.
