The Akademie für Alte Musik, Berlin, is hardly less famous in the early music world than its London model and counterpart (The Academy for Ancient Music). Founded in 1982, the group has kept itself HIP (historically informed), while providing the spark and danceable liveliness that makes Baroque music come alive. If your week will be made by a really fine performance of a Brandenburg Concerto, as well as music by other German luminaries like Telemann and Handel, then Cal Performances is the place to be on Friday.
