Scott Sandmeier has been named Music Director of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Orchestra, to begin with next season's first concert on September 28. He will also lead the orchestra in performances on Feb. 15 and May 3 next year.
A long-time resident of Europe, Sandmeier is currently professor of conducting and director of orchestral studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany, as well as artistic director of a chamber orchestra and summer festival in southwestern France. He has ongoing relationships as a guest conductor with orchestras in France, Germany, and Portugal, and has taught and conducted in conservatories throughout the U.S. and Europe, notably Indiana and DePaul universities, the Universität der Künste in Berlin, and the Paris Conservatory.
