According to this story appearing in the San Diego Union-Tribune, a financial audit shows that the San Diego Opera's budget troubles, which led the Opera board to vote in March to shut the company down, were exaggerated.
The company was running modest, not crippling deficits. Now that many of those board members have resigned, taking with them their donation pledges, the company continues to worry about expenses and new sources of revenue.
