Pocket Opera Robbed

Jason Victor Serinus on February 3, 2015

Pocket Opera has been hung out to dry, as it were. The indefatigable little opera company, Donald Pippin’s gift to the Bay Area, has just experienced a devastating theft of costumes, props, and music. “Pocket’s just been pick-pocketed!” reads their emergency appeal. “Right before the show on January 31, our truck was broken into.” With most of their costumes and props for Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor stolen, the company has put out a mad call for everything they need to ensure that their remaining two performances (February 8 and 15) go on as planned.

Items in needs of replacement include: - 14 music stand lights - a piano bench - Scottish sporins - Scottish kilts - Styrofoam tombstones - extension cords - power strips - an old laptop computer for supertitles - bloody nightgown - various other costume pieces

Anyone who can provide any of the above items is asked to call the Pocket Opera office post haste, at (415) 972-8930. As an alternative, funds to send Pocket Opera’s skeleton staff out shopping are most welcome. Monetary donations can be made here.
