Pacific Boy Choir and German Visitors in Joint Concert

On a Vietnam tour last the summer, Kevin Fox conducted his own chorus and local youngsters

Germany's Windsbacher Knabenchor, one of the the finest boy choirs around, will join the Pacific Boychoir Academy to perform German classics and American folk songs at on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Berkeley's First Congregational Church.

The much-traveled Pacific Boychoir will perform separately and together with the visitors, who are on an American tour to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Berlin Wall's fall. In their 68-year history, the Windsbach chorus has gained international attention as they performed with some of Germany's major orchestras.

They have appeared in the Berliner Philharmonie, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Herkulessaal der Münchener Residenz, as well as performance spaces throughout Europe, such as Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Tonhalle Zurich, Palau de la Musica in Barcelona and in Luzern.

The choir has been recording with Sony Classical and has released numerous recordings, including the Mozart Requiem, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Brahms’ German Requiem, and numerous a cappella recordings.

The program will feature music by Brahms, Bach, Rheinberger, Bruckner, Shütz, and Mendelssohn, in addition to the Pacific Boychoir performing American folks songs.
