Marin Music Chest, celebrating its 80th anniversary, announced its annual concert on April 28, featuring solo performances by the 2013 scholarship winners. The free concert starts at 2:30 p.m., April 28, in San Domenico School in San Anselmo. Scholarships were awarded to junior musicians (10-13) and senior musicians (14-20).
Among scholarship recipients: Hayaka Komatsu (viola), Katarina Lee (piano), Matthew Lee (piano), Max Norman (clarinet), Kuni Migimatsu (piano), Michelle Ramseier (piano), Benjamin Cho (piano), James Zhoa (piano), and Katherine Zhao (piano), all of San Rafael; Hallie Jo Gist (flute) and Chloe K. Fung (piano), both of Greenbrae; Laura Arthur (voice) of Novato; Maverick Chen (oboe) of San Anselmo; Cesare Ruegg (piano) of Tiburon; and Max Smiley (violin) of Mill Valley.
At another free concert, Marin Music Chest 2013 Young Artists honorees Laura Arthur, Hayaka Komatsu, Katarina Lee, Kuni Migimatsu, and Max Norman perform solo pieces beginning at 5 p.m., May 19, in Mt. Tamalpais United Methodist Church in Mill Valley.
