A duo is missing from Music at Kohl Mansion's poker hand: There will be several solo appearances, a trio, several quartets, and a quintet — but a winning hand anyway.
Solo recitals include pianist Garrick Ohlsson's program of Beethoven, Schubert, Griffes, and Chopin on Jan. 12, 2014. Trio Cavatina plays Beethoven, and is joined by violist Samuel Rhodes for Copland and Brahms Piano Quartets, on Feb. 2.
The Fine Arts Quartet appears on Oct. 20, the Miró Quartet on March 9, and the Ariel String Quartet on April 13. The German Henschel Quartett (with two t's) closes the Mansion season on May 4.
Pianist Joyce Yang joins the Alexander Quartet on Nov. 10 in a concert of works by Schumann, Britten, and Brahms.
A special event is the Dec. 15 "A Night at the Opera" holiday concert, a benefit for Kohl for Kids programs, with star singers promised, but not yet named. Through tomorrow, Music at Kohl Mansion is offering discounted subscription pricing
