The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts is taking a strategic step toward its upcoming season. The Beverly Hills arts hub is partnering with violinist Daniel Hope. As artist-in-residence, Hope will curate a series of programs for The Wallis’s 2020–2021 season — be it in-person or online.
And Hope brings all the right kinds of expertise to the flexible gig. In March, he launched Hope@Home — his musician’s response to the coronavirus shutdown — a series of daily chamber concerts on French/German TV channel ARTE. (It’s Hope@Home — On Tour in its current iteration.) And should things go live, he’s no stranger to the West Coast. He’s served as music director for San Francisco’s New Century Chamber Orchestra since 2018, and the group will be involved with the programs for The Wallis.
In tandem with Hope’s appointment as artist-in-residence, The Wallis has announced a resilience fund — Hope @ The Wallis. It’s a dollar-for-dollar matching project, up to $150,000, another aspect of the center’s strategic approach to seasons ahead.
