Cecilia Bartoli, perhaps the world’s most popular mezzo-soprano, is headed back to Berkeley and Cal Performances, after a six-year absence. Last heard there in 2009, Bartoli will return for two recital performances at Zellerbach Hall, March 31 and April 2. The producing organization announced last week that tickets to the non-subscriber general public will go on sale at noon on Thursday, Jan. 22.
In order to get tickets, you’ll have to be fast: Subscribers will have snapped up many of the tickets already, and the ticket office expects long lines. The performances will consist of selections from Bartoli’s 2009 album of music written for the great 18th-century castrati singers, Sacrificium, reviewed by SFCV here.
