Episode 10: Calvin Barthel and Jazz’s Next Generation. The acclaimed Monterey Jazz Festival does its part to stimulate young musicians to further the great American art form. Meet trombonist Barthel, member of their Next Generation Jazz Orchestra and winner of the Jimmy Lyons Scholarship for study at the prestigious Berklee College in Boston. Calvin and Next Gen embark on a West coast tour this July and play the Monterey Jazz Festival in September.
