KONTRAPUNKTUS, the nine-member classical music ensemble returns to performing this January with five performances of “BACH & HANDEL: Soli Deo gloria,” a series of early 18th century musical compositions written “in praise of God alone” by two master composers of the Baroque era.
KONTRAPUNKTUS’ upcoming five performances of “BACH & HANDEL: Soli Deo gloria” are planned more as events than concerts. Each production is created to make an indelible impression by virtue of the ensemble’s technical execution which strives to bring new life into 18th century masterpieces and turn them into contemporary Baroque treasures.
KONTRAPUNKTUS ensemble is led by acclaimed Sphinx Competition First Place Laureate and Concertmaster, Hannah White, and features a world-class chamber ensemble including one of the fastest rising stars in classical music, soloist Aubree Oliverson.
Founded in 2015 and based in Long Beach, KONTRAPUNKTUS has emerged from the Los Angels and Orange County classical music scene as one of the most promisingly robust chamber orchestras that has won the hearts and minds of audiences through Southern California. Featuring some of the finest young musicians from today’s classical world—many graduates of the Colburn School in LA and New York’s Juilliard School—KONTRAPUNKTUS redefines the nature of chamber orchestra in a constantly changing world.
