Arnaldo Cohen is rightly esteemed by afficionados of classical piano, but he lacks the draw power of some of his more famous colleagues. What this means for you is that a few tickets may be available for his four-hand recital with up-and-comer Nareh Arghamanyan presented by San Francisco Performances at Herbst Theatre on Thursday night.
A four-hand recital (two pianists sharing one keyboard) is a rare thing, especially featuring a major artist like Cohen. There's a lot of great music on the program, by the likes of Mozart, Schubert, Dvořák, Ravel, and Barber. But the program is really about the intimate communion of two musicians: If they can pull it off in the close confines of Herbst, it will be a memorable evening.
